Our frontline team of seven shooting professionals has amassed over
100,000 hours as instructors and more than 125 years of experience in the shooting and fishing business. Our support staff are equally important in delivering the service that sets us apart – professional, with the personal touch and many years of experience.

The Magnificent Seven


Dylan Williams

Dylan founded The Royal Berkshire Shooting School in 1991, following formal education in conservation and land management. A countryman through and through, he still has the same enthusiasm for shooting as the boy who held his first gun as a 9-year-old.


Robert Cross

Renowned for his calm and concise style of tuition, Robert is one of the most experienced instructors in the UK. He brings an exceptional ability to the design of layouts and drives for both the Shooting School and The Really Wild Clay Company and has been at The Royal Berkshire for 25 years.


Gordon Robinson

A graduate of Sparsholt, Gordon joined the Group in 1998 after many years of managing the shooting interests of sporting estates A passionate countryman, he’s as keen a fisherman as he is a shot. His front-line experience and calm professionalism continue to drive the Sporting Agency to new levels of accomplishment in both the UK and Spain.


Steve Turner

Qualifying as an instructor in 2007, Steve shows a strong sense of responsibility and maturity that’s liked and admired by all his clients. Raised on a farm, he’s knowledgeable in all country matters.
He is developing his skill as a competitive clay shot and can often be seen at local and national competitions demonstrating his skills.


Nigel Muir

Nigel, the gentle giant of the school, has instructed at The Royal Berkshire for 13 years and he has become increasingly popular giving private lessons on a regular basis to newcomers to the sport and experienced guns alike. As a result he is constantly in demand.


Simon Russell-Marsh

Simon Russell-Marsh helps The Royal Berkshire further expand it’s offering to game shooters in the UK. After serving in Northern Ireland and Iraq, Simon spent many years working for Roxtons Field Sports before co-founding Exmoor Sporting. Simon has also run the clay line at The CLA Game Fair for the past eight years and is an APSI-qualified instructor. Simon’s full-time role will see him working alongside Gordon Robinson across the group, co-ordinating game shooting in the UK and Spain via the Royal Berkshire Sporting Agency, simulated game days via The Really Wild Clay Company and teaching at the award-winning school in Pangbourne alongside the other full-time instructors.


Pete Wilkins

After joining the School as a full time groundsman in 2004, Pete began training as an instructor and became fully qualified in 2013. He has gone on to become very popular with a number of our regular clients, and is also heavily involved in instructing the next generation of shooters who visit us from local schools, colleges and universities.


Ed Allen

After leaving Lackham college with a diploma in Countryside Management – Gamekeeping and Fisheries, Ed went on to work as an underkeeper on the renowned Badminton Estate. He is a keen game and clay shot and has been involved with shooting since he was 12 years old. He has already impressed the rest of the staff with his willingness to assist in all aspects of the Royal Berkshire Shooting School, be it helping on Corporate or Charity events, trapping on Really Wild Clay Days or taking clients out for lessons on the shooting ground.


Ben Smith

As a farmers son from Hertfordshire, Ben has always taken a keen interest in all aspects of field sports.Ben will be working with Gordon in the Sporting Agency, whilst also aiding the School and Really Wild Clay Day teams.Prior to working at Royal Berkshire, Ben worked as a guide in Patagonia for two seasons on one of the world’s best fly fishing and hunting lodge. He will be hoping to use his knowledge of the Spanish language to expand our partridge shooting operations in Spain.


Mike Adams & Stephen Bassett

The Shooting School and the grounds have been called “immaculate”, “manicured” and “truly stunning” Some of the most experienced game shots in the land are in awe of both the speed and precision of the clays sent off stands such as The Times Tower and the famous J&B Grouse Stand. All these aspects are the responsibility of Mike and Stephen, who are truly outstanding in their pride and commitment to the grounds and the presentation of targets.

Wendy Dixon
Calibre Club Concierge & Client Services Co-ordinator

Since Wendy joined us in October 2013, she has been thoroughly enjoying the new challenges that the clay shooting world has thrown at her. Whilst still often found in Reception, Wendy has now taken on the challenge of looking after our beautiful Lodge and making sure that all of our guests are well looked after when they visit us. She does this alongside her role in the Calibre Club, where as well as making sure our Founder Members have everything they need, she is enjoying introducing new members to the many benefits the Club has to offer. Jessica Evans
Retail Manager

Everyone who has visited our new shop since it opened has been impressed by the layout and variety of brands available and this is down to Jessica, who joined us in late 2014. She has a strong desire to showcase local and unusual products alongside a range of well-known country clothing brands and is determined to make sure that a visit to the Royal Berkshire Shop becomes everyone’s favourite shopping experience! Events Co-ordinator

With several years of Event Management experience under her belt before joining us in 2015, Katie is the person to speak to about Corporate Invitation Days and Charity Shoots as well as Really Wild Clay Days. Be assured that your event will be in safe hands and that she will be there to take care of every detail be it before the day or during the event itself. Hannah Fixter

Hannah has made a big impression on everyone since she started here in March 2016, with her enthusiasm and constant smile. As well as greeting everyone who comes to visit, she can often be seen out around the grounds behind a camera, capturing guests enjoying their time here in the Berkshire countryside. Leonora ‘Leo’ Randall
Sporting Agency Co-ordinator

Leo was part of the Royal Berkshire’s founding team in 1991. In 2011, she returned to co-ordinate the Sporting Agency under the direction of Gordon Robinson. It’s great to have her back!
