Really Wild Clay Day at Windsor Great Park

The Royal Berkshire Shooting School was proud to have organised all the shooting for a spectacular Really Wild Clay Day yesterday at Windsor Great Park in Berkshire. in the presence of HRH Prince Edward, in aid of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. In total, 24 teams of four shot five drives with 200 birds on each and were chauffeured around in Range Rovers around the park with thanks to Stratstone. All guests then enjoyed a three-course lunch after which the Earl of Wessex almost won a closely fought game of Heads and Tails! ‘The PJs’, captained by Paul Walsh, were the winning team who received the magnificent silver trophy. An auction of amazing lots including an Ayrton Senna Helmet and morning of shooting at The Royal Berkshire Shooting School with Olympian Peter Wilson helped to raise £100,000 for the charity’s vital work with young people We were all extremely grateful to HRH Duke of Edinburgh for allowing us to shoot at Windsor Great Park. Olympic gold medallist Peter Wilson generously helped raise funds at a Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) event at The Royal Berkshire Shooting School yesterday. The CSJ is a think tank set up in 2004 by Iain Duncan Smith MP that aims is to “put social justice at the heart of British politics.” The Royal Berkshire Shooting School is delighted to announce £40,000 was raised via a fun game of heads & tails which will go towards helping the CSJ to tackle poverty and social problems. RBSS to hold first ever CPSA registered shoot

RBSS to hold first ever CPSA registered shoot

The Royal Berkshire Shooting School, having recently become a member of the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA), is set to host its first ever registered competition over three days, from Monday 4 to Wednesday 6 August.

The ‘Challenge Trophy’ will see competitors presented with 100 sporting targets over 12 stands plus a 25-bird Compak for the Pool Shoot. Entry can only be made by pre-booking and competitors will shoot in squads of six, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable experience, with minimal queuing. There is the added benefit of being able to enjoy breakfast and lunch, freshly prepared by Mike Robinson’s team from the Pot Kiln Anywhere.

The prize fund includes £400 for High Gun sponsored by The Royal Berkshire Gun Room, with cash prizes to 3rd place in all categories, with additional prizes from Gamebore Cartridges and The Really Wild Clothing Company.

In its continued effort to encourage youngsters, Colt and Junior entries will be able to shoot for half price on Monday 4 August.

Richard Worthington, the CPSA’s National Development Manager, commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity to shoot the first ever CPSA-registered shoot at this prestigious venue and we are delighted to be involved in what will no doubt be a successful event.”

Will, John and Joe Headland visited us for the first time over the weekend to take advantage of our involvement with NSW. NSW is run by The Countryside Alliance and aims are to enable anyone to try shooting for the first time.

Alan Payne wins the 2014 Handicap Classic competition

Royal Berkshire Shooting School is pleased to announce 74-year-old Alan Payne has won the 2014 Handicap Classic competition.

Alan Payne has won the 2014 Handicap Classic competition with a score of 82 plus his CPSA handicap of 14, giving him an overall score of 96. Alan is now the proud owner of a Browning Heritage Hunter worth £5,600. The winner of the highest qualifying score on a Browning or Miruko is George Keys who scored an impressive 95. Together, Alan and George have over 120 years of shooting experience. Congratulations to those who have taken part.
